I decided to give dating another go. Of course I had the brilliant idea of vlogging about it cause I have those kind of ideas on a regular basis. I would love to actually film the whole experience but I don’t have cameras and such to do a reality show…just yet. So for now I am sitting in front of a desk top computer with an old computer camera and talking about my experiences.
I had fallen in love with a guy I didn’t know but that didn’t turn out so well.  It’s difficult to have a relationship with someone you only saw once and you don’t know anything about him or if he’s married or if you even have the right name for him. Yeah, so that made me think that maybe I should get back on the online dating loop. I just don’t know enough people here.

I started with Zook on FaceBook but they charge. I’ve done Match.com in the past and learned that they are very good at matching people up with other people who have nothing in common.  I’ve heard that E-Harmony is good but I, well, I’m broke! My kids and I recently relocated and it takes time to get over the financial blood sucking that comes from that sort of ordeal.

So, for now I’m using POF (Plenty of Fish). I did put on my POF profile that I would be vloging. I know that might weed out a lot of guys but it’s who I am so weeding out can be a good thing. I know I have a lot of challenges already like being 42, having some “extra pounds, a mom of four and two of my kids being in the Autism spectrum, but hey, challenges make good stories.

So, though I would love to find my “soul mate”, my first goal is to take my time and enjoy getting to know people. The hard part is that there is a lot of guys who want to jump into a serious relationship and claim you as theirs before you really know anything about them. I’ve already been called scared, or was it afraid, but if I was scared I wouldn’t be doing this. I’m just trying to play it smart and actually learn from my past mistakes.

I hope you enjoy the volgs. I’d love to have comments and likes on the YouTube vlogs as well. The more they are watched the more they will get out there and be seen which would be super cool. Thanks ahead of time for your support. Hopefully one day I can turn this and other things into reality TV.

As far as comments and suggestions on the vlogs I am pretty cool about stuff but if there is a mean or bully type one I will get rid of it if I can.

I Wanna Drive
by Lori K Hobbs-Revels
10/31/12

        *

I wanna drive
in a hot car to see you
pick up my friends
drive till the road ends
we got a whole life to live
so today lets begin

Jammin to the beats
screamin from the back seat
having the time of our lives
cause life’s a ride ride ride
come on lets live
forget who’s saying smack
throw worry to the back
jump in
have a good time
be real
it’s about time
every days a win

I wanna drive
in a hot car to see you
pick up my friends
drive till the road ends
we got a whole life to live
so today lets begin

I gotta feeling
it’s gonna be good
no matter how it looks
you can’t go by that
the futures wide open
you write your own book
make the life you want
grab a friends hand
help em up
it’s time to dance
the slide goes down
then you climb to the top

I wanna drive
in a hot car to see you
pick up my friends
drive till the road ends
we got a whole life to live
so today lets begin

drive, drive, drivin till the end, drive, drive, drivin till the end…

Just when you think you made a friend
poem by Lori K Hobbs-Revels (11-2-12)

                                 *

Just when you think you made a friend
a tragedy strikes
and they didn’t call to tell you
they had a victory
and they didn’t let you know
it happened all so fast

Just when you think you made a friend
you ask them why
they answer you weren’t needed
their friends helped them out enough
you ask why
they didn’t know you were interested

Just when you think you made a friend
they can’t stay for coffee or tea
they are in a hurry
they have to leave
they didn’t come to stay
so they will be on their way

Just when you think you made a friend
you realize you are the one who’s new
why should anyone really trust you
why should they call, why should they care
they’re your friend, you’re just not theirs
So here you sit, hands feeling bare

So goes the lot
of those who move
from place to place
and spot to spot

All the more reason I am thankful for and appreciate my true friends, the kind that stay with you through thick and thin, the kind that are honest but not judgmental, the kind that not only lend a helping hand and a listening ear but also accept yours.

I think of my friends like Shirley and Sabrina, Kim and Jeannie though they live far away I can count on them. Even some friends I have only met on FaceBook have become real friends and I hope someday to see them in person. But wither I get to or not, we are here for each other.

There are some I haven’t named so please don’t be offended. That would not be my point at all.

My point here is really about how friendship isn’t just about giving but also receiving. One may see themselves as a friend and offer love and help when needed, but it’s not a true friendship until that person can ask for and receive love and help in return. It shows trust and trust is so very important in a good relationship.
